Returned US Bases to Be Open to Public

The government will open returned U.S. bases to the public as soon as 
takeover procedures are completed to quell a dispute over environmental 
restoration at the bases, the Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

The move came a day after the ministry denied a group of governing party 
lawmakers access to a closed U.S. camp for on-site environmental 
inspection, citing the return process is under way.
