GLASS The Virginian-Pilot August 18, 2006 NORFOLK - Ship enthusiast Mark Nemergut has no doubt about who should get to homeport the Savannah, the world's first nuclear-powered commercial vessel. The one-of-a-kind ship should stay in Hampton Roads as an attraction, the Virginia Beach resident said. "It's just a natural for us because of our maritime heritage and the naval presence," said Nemergut, a merchant mariner. That decision will be up to the U.S. Maritime Administration, which plans to preserve the ship and eventually donate it so it can become a museum or other public attraction. ...
