Work on arsenal site could take 5 to 10 years EWA prez says advisory board doesn't represent entire community BY JAY BODAS Woodbridge Sentinel (NJ) October 11, 2006 EDISON - It's unlikely any of the buried ordnance on the old Raritan Arsenal property will pose any danger to the public, a federal official said recently. "There has never been an occurrence of anything happening at Raritan," James Moore, a project manager for the Army Corps of Engineers, said recently. "It is rare that we find stuff that is live, very rare. Also, a lot of the area has been in large part developed, and so where the public would walk is safe." Moore made the comments after an Oct. 3 public meeting of the Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) to discuss cleanup progress at the former arsenal site. The RAB is a joint undertaking by the federal Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Defense. The Army Corps of Engineers is monitoring the cleanup work. ...
