Commerce park site eyed
Chamber and Navy consider land swap

The Navy and a group of local business leaders have revived talks about 
developing a 640-acre helicopter training field near Beulah into a 
commerce park.

"It's back in play," said Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce CEO 
Evon Emerson. "The Navy is ready to talk again."

"The most important thing is that if we do the right thing for the Navy, 
then good things will follow," Dalton said. Another issue driving the 
negotiations is, said Charles Wood, the Chamber's senior vice president 
of economic development, is the growing development, or "encroachment," 
in the area around OLF 8.
