Cities limit development near MCAS BeaufortBy Trista Talton Marine Corps Times December 14, 2006 JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Local government officials recently approved ordinances to keep a tight leash on future development around Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, S.C. The city of Beaufort, Beaufort County and the town of Port Royal each approved ordinances designed to prevent urban encroachment around the air station and provide a layer of public safety. Port Royal was the last to adopt an ordinance, doing so Wednesday. The passing of these ordinances sends a clear message that residents are serious about preserving MCAS Beaufort, according to Col.
