PAVE PAWS cancer link gets new look from state By ROBIN LORD Cape Cod Times (MA) January 17, 2007State officials plan to expand their study of childhood cancer rates on Cape Cod to include a look at whether the PAVE PAWS radar facility in Sagamore could be playing a part in the unusual number of cases of a rare form of bone cancer in the region. Suzanne Condon, assistant commissioner at the state Department of Public Health, said yesterday that Cambridge-based research group Broadcast Signal Lab will be hired to measure the levels of radiation from the PAVE PAWS radar station in Sagamore that is hitting the homes of more than a dozen Cape residents who have been diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma in the past few years. While no contract has been signed, funding for the $40,000 project has been approved and Broadcast Signal has agreed to take it on, Condon said. The research effort will likely begin in March.
