Shpack landfill abutters unhappy with state's findings By Kevin Tocci Brockton Enterprise (MA) January 17, 2006NORTON - A cancer study meeting held by the state raised more questions than providing answers to residents who live near the contaminated Shpack landfill. The study found that during a 21-year period which 13 cancer types were evaluated in Norton and Attleboro, the majority of the cases occurred at or near the expected rates. These numbers were based on the population of both towns and statewide cancer rates. Suzanne Condon, an Associate Commissioner for Massachusetts Department of Public Health said she knows the landfill site has been a main concern for the residents in the area. She was aware that the community was looking for some certain statistics that her department attempted to deliver. ...
