Rialto to prepare backup plan on contamination WATER: A complete cleanup of the perchlorate will take years, officials say. By MASSIEL LADRÓN DE GUEVARA Riverside Press-Enterprise (CA) January 17, 2007The eradication of perchlorate contamination in Rialto will take several years, so efforts to draft a cleanup plan and secure backup water supplies are essential, city officials said. During a meeting Tuesday, the Rialto City Council told about 50 residents that their input on creating a cleanup plan is wanted. ...Mayor Grace Vargas said she hopes the lawsuits will be settled in the near future, but in the meantime, the city will continue its zero-tolerance policy on perchlorate. "We will not put any wells back into operation that are contaminated," Vargas said. ### For the entire article, see http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_B_bmeeting18.28728d7.html -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@list.cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org/mailman/listinfo/military | |
