Army: Lead bullets no threat By AMANDA LEHMERT Cape Cod Times (MA) February 28, 2007The firing of lead ammunition at Camp Edwards has not caused any "significant" lead contamination in the Upper Cape's drinking water supply, according to a draft National Guard report set for release in coming weeks. But the return of lead ammunition to the base after a 10-year ban will come only with safety precautions, Guard officials and environmental regulators agreed this week. "It isn't really considered a threat to the water, if properly managed," Mark Begley, director of the base's Environmental Management Commission, said of lead ammunition. ...
