Guard floats lead balloon By AMANDA LEHMERT Cape Cod Times (MA) April 21, 2007CAMP EDWARDS - Swedish inventor Gerth Moberg stood at the edge of the Tango rifle range, pointing at a tiny smudge on the rubber bullet-trap system. The pinprick-sized hole, almost imperceptible, was the spot where a lead round pushed its way into Moberg's rubber contraption, to be trapped and kept away from the Cape's fragile environment. Yesterday, for the first time since the bullet trap was installed at Camp Edwards nearly a year ago, about a dozen Massachusetts National Guard soldiers tested the new system. Guard leaders will use the information gathered to help create a pollution-prevention plan for the range, which will be designed to stop any lead contamination from spreading to the Cape's drinking water. ...
