Polluted water moving toward Yoder well By Mary Clarkin The Hutchinson News (KS) May 18, 2007YODER - A plume of contaminated groundwater is moving toward the public water well that serves Yoder, and those customers could be shifted to another public well system. ...A groundwater monitoring well southwest of District No. 101's well showed the water contained 57.7 parts per billion of carbon tetrachloride. The maximum level of that chemical allowed in drinking water is 5 parts per billion, under federal and state regulations. The source of the contamination is not known. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is interested in what might have been buried or dumped in past years at the Hutchinson Air Base Industrial Tract, southwest of Yoder. ...
