Land use study begins for Tinker, nearby areas by Kelley Chambers Oklahoma City Journal Record (OK) September 28, 2007OKLAHOMA CITY - As Oklahoma City and surrounding communities have grown over the years, many now bump up against Tinker Air Force Base. On Wednesday, the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments began a Joint Land Use Study to look at land use planning surrounding the base. The study was fist announced in January.The effort is intended to promote community growth and development compatible with the base's training and operational missions. Zach Taylor, executive director of the association, said in addition to land use planning, the base and surrounding communities need a systemized approach to communications. The project has a budget of $281,000, 90 percent of which was provided by the Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment, and the other 10 percent supplied by the communities surrounding Tinker. ...
