Warren Grove safety measure passes Senate

A measure to boost safety precautions at the Warren Grove Gunnery Range 
after a massive fire in May that consumed thousands of acres in the 
South Jersey Pinelands has passed the U.S. Senate, officials said today.

The legislation - an amendment to the bill authorizing Defense 
Department spending for 2008 - would require a report on base safety 
measures to be completed within 90 days, as well as a study on 
"community encroachment issues" within 180 days, according to New Jersey 
senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez.
