New committee to follow up on zoning restrictions near base By CHRIS VAUGHN Forth Worth Star-Telegram (TX) December 18, 2007 The elected officials from western Tarrant County who have proposed new regulations to ease encroachment around Naval Air Station Fort Worth are now busy figuring out how to implement them. In September, the Joint Land Use Study committee issued recommendations that could require stronger building codes, prohibitions on new residential development in some tracts and voluntary land acquisitions in high-risk crash areas. The push for new regulations grew out of concern that residential and commercial development around the military installation is getting too close and too dense, creating a safety hazard and increasing the potential for noise complaints. ...
