Proposed development raises encroachment fears Ryan Arvay, Florida Freedom Newspapers Northwest Florida Daily News January 23, 2008 At a special re-zoning meeting scheduled for tonight, the Santa Rosa Board of County Commissioners will be considering a proposed subdivision in East Milton. What makes this potential high-density development on Nichols Creek Road different, is the concern it has caused not only local residents, but the surrounding military installations, such as Eglin Air Force Base. The 188 acres, owned by Gulf Coast Development Group LLC is in close proximity to the base, falls under restricted air space, and is within the direct flight path used by the pilot training program. One of the military's major concerns with the proposed development is the issue of light pollution caused by house lights, street lamps, etc., which could interfere with Eglin's night flight operations. ...
