LOOW: Corps to steer clear of current advisory board By Dan Miner Niagara Gazette (NY) January 29, 2008 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to discontinue its efforts working with the Lake Ontario Ordnance Works Restoration Advisory Board - and possibly establish a new board instead. Corps Buffalo District Commander Lt. John Hurley broke the news to RAB Steering Committee Chairman Walt Garrow in a two-page letter dated Jan. 28, only three days after the groups met to discuss the RAB's status. "The Corps appreciates the dedicated efforts of your group, respects your concerns and your spirit of volunteerism," said Hurley's letter. "However, your citizen-based volunteer group is not a Department of Defense (DoD) RAB." ... For the entire article, see http://www.niagara-gazette.com/local/local_story_029205407.html I find this last statement troubling and confusing, because for some time the Corps has been maintaining a web page for the existing group at http://www.lrb.usace.army.mil/derpfuds/loow/rab/ -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/military-cpeo.org | |
