Pease held up as example for BNAS Seth Koenig Brunswick Times Record (ME) March 19, 2008 BRUNSWICK - Nearly 20 years after the closure of Pease Air Force Base near Portsmouth, N.H., development at the former military property now provides "five times the economic impact" as the $350 million the base used to annually sink into the community. The former chairman and vice chairman of the panel that created the master reuse plan for the Pease property visited the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority on Tuesday, offering words of advice for the group charged with leading the reuse of Brunswick Naval Air Station. The Navy is scheduled to vacate the Brunswick base in 2011, and civilian planners would love to devise a way to generate five times the base's current economic impact — an impact that's felt through the spendings of military personnel and families, as well as on-base employment for civilians. ...
