Arsenal may get massive upgrade

National Guard wants to turn facility into big training center

The Ohio Army National Guard is planning to upgrade the old Ravenna 
Arsenal into a first-class military training center.

Plans call for making $151 million in improvements over the next 25 
years at the Ravenna Training and Logistics Site, said Maj. Ed Meade, 
the base operations supervisor.

A new master plan for the 21,418-acre complex near Ravenna in eastern 
Portage and western Trumbull counties is about half done, Meade told an 
advisory group at a meeting Wednesday night in Freedom Township.
