Base presentation draws crowd

About 400 people sat and stood through a one-hour presentation and 
another hour of questions and comments about the proposed joint 
interagency installation at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station in 
Horsham on Tuesday night.

Many people questioned Dennis Guise, chief counsel with the state 
Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, about the lack of input by 
local residents and the short time they've had to digest the report by 
L. Robert Kimball & Associates, which was released to the public on March 3.

At the end of the meeting at the Horsham Township Community Center, 
state Sen. Stewart Greenleaf, who represents Horsham and other parts of 
Eastern Montgomery County, said he would send a letter to Gov. Ed 
Rendell asking him to delay his decision about the future of the base.

Greenleaf said he wanted more time for people to feel comfortable with 
what was proposed at the base.

What people were comfortable with was the old base.
