Shell shock: Mortar found in clam pile at plant By JAMES P. QUARANTA Vineland Daily Journal (NJ) April 17, 2008 MILLVILLE -- A state police bomb disposal unit was dispatched to LaMonica Fine Foods on Gorton Road on Wednesday morning, when what appeared to be a small mortar shell was found in a load of clams. Acting police Chief Ed Grennon said the device was shaped like a teardrop and was about 10 inches long. "We treat any military ordnance as live and call the proper authorities," Grennon said. A woman who identified herself as the human resource manager at the plant, but would not give her name, declined comment, and it was unclear where the load of clams came from. ...
