Officials with the Port of Corpus Christi are asking the Navy to help them bring more revenue to the area, in particular the city of Ingleside, by transferring control of Naval Station Ingleside's 1,100-foot pier as soon as possible.

Port commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to submit a letter to base Capt. Leland "B.T." Taylor requesting he consider and forward the request to his superiors. The letter was mailed Tuesday afternoon, said Tom Moore, the port's business development manager.
