Report: Camp Edwards bullet trap plan hits bull's-eye By George Brennan Cape Cod Times (MA) May 15, 2008Less than 1 percent of the 30,000 rounds of lead bullets fired at Camp Edwards since last July have eluded a bullet trap containment system, according to a report released by the Massachusetts National Guard this week. Those bullets were the result of ricochets, over shots and a few rounds that hit the sand box traps, according to the 125-page report. State and federal environmental officials are closely monitoring the use of the bullet trap, a STAPP system consisting of an 18-inch layer of ground rubber that absorbs shots and keeps toxic chemicals from seeping into the ground. ...
