By Chuck Hagee Mount Vernon Gazette (VA) May 14, 2008Yogi Berra would have felt right at home Monday night at the Spring Bank Community Association meeting -- it was definitely "deja vu all over again." Another potential developer presenting another set of plans calling for retail, office, and, yes, hotel space immediately adjacent to the King Crossing site. This time the driving force, as outlined by Attorney Gifford R. Hampshire, representing land owner Penn Daw Properties, was all the supposed contractors and other firms coming to the Route 1 corridor as a result of the Base Realignment & Closure Report's (BRAC) impact on Fort Belvoir. "This development can serve as the stimulus to entice other development along the corridor," Hampshire told the SBCA members assembled at Groveton Baptist Church. The 4.39 acre site owned by the Fenton family is composed of 11 parcels with the potential of a twelfth parcel in the works. That final parcel is presenting in foreclosure, according to Hampshire. ...
