Volunteers overseeing site cleanup feel at risk Army Corps creating new advisory group By Aaron Besecker Buffalo News (NY) May 28, 2008LEWISTON - A volunteer group overseeing the cleanup of World War II-era radiological and chemical contamination in northwest Niagara County doesn't have much going for it these days. The federal agency responsible for the site says it's moving ahead with replacing the group with a previously established structure that had been overhauled because members say it didn't work. Regulators have yet to respond to a stinging rebuke from State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, even though it has been nearly two months since he challenged them. Members are still looking for support from federal representatives, even though the group has been dealing with issues, including access to information, for nearly two years. ...
