Arsenal gets new life as training facility National Guard wants site to be used year-round By BILL RODGERS Warren Tribune Chronicle (OH) May 31, 2008RAVENNA - Van after van of Marine recruits pulled up to the decades-old unused buildings at the Ravenna Arsenal Friday. After turning the warehouses into makeshift barracks, the recruits - many just out of high school - fell into formation outside as dozens of uniformed soldiers did a headcount and coached them on the upcoming weekend. "This area has been swept clean of UXO's (unexploded ordnances)," said Sgt. Maj. Coral Gillham. Still, he told the kids that if they found any shells, "bomblets" or anything that looked like an explosive on the grounds of the World War II-era munitions plant, they should tell one of the Marines. ...
