Port Authority discusses base By Jennifer Pfeffer Ingleside Index (TX) June 4, 2008The Port Authority of Corpus Christi gave an informative presentation to the Ingleside City Council last Tuesday on what ideas they've come up with so far with the redevelopment of the base. John LaRue, executive director of the Port of Corpus Christi, told council about several plans that the port has concerning economic development and their ideas about what they might do with their portion of the land at Naval Station Ingleside (NSI). The Port has land that will revert back to them after the base closes in September 2010. One of the projects the Port recently finished, not related to the base closure, was an alternative route for people in San Patricio County to drive to Corpus Christi or I-37 without using the harbor bridge. The plans were especially important because it provides another option in case of an emergency involving the bridge. ...
