Committee limits vocal Tinker opponent By Ann Kelley The Oklahoman June 5, 2008A former Tinker Air Force Base commander was stripped of his vote on a committee working to steer development around the base. Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Richard Burpee has been a vocal opponent of development in the areas called accident protection zones. He has fought against allowing a retail development in Del City and expansion of Tinker Business and Industrial Park in Midwest City. Both are in accident protection zones tied to Tinker runways and identified in the most recent U.S. Defense Department Air Installation Compatibility Use study. ...
