BNAS honored by environmentalists for work with birds and loosestrife Brunswick Times-Record (ME) June 27, 2008BRUNSWICK - Brunswick Naval Air Station was honored by the U.S. Navy this month after piloting new methods of controlling invasive plant species and as the first site in Maine to work with the Institute For Bird Population in studying migration patterns. The base was named by Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead as one of the country's top natural resource installations at a Navy award ceremony earlier this month in Washington, D.C. BNAS officials said the accolade could be a sign of things to come as the Navy prepares to leave Brunswick Naval Air Station and turn it over for civilian redevelopment in 2011. ...
