Advocates ask for more homeless housing on fort
Mayors of host towns say need should be met countywide

Advocates for the homeless say plans for the future of Fort Monmouth must include more affordable housing to alleviate the growing homeless population in the county.

The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Planning Authority (FMERPA) passed a resolution that authorized staff to begin negotiations with homeless service providers during a special meeting held June 24 at the Tinton Falls Municipal Complex.

Members of FMERPA heard the recommendations of its Social Services Advisory Committee (SSAC) prior to adopting the resolution, which was a formal measure.
