SW neighbors look for affordable housing sites
Multnomah-area residents say an emergency center is their first choice 
for Army Reserve facility

With the fate of the Sgt. Jerome Sears United States Army Reserve Center 
in Southwest Portland still undecided, area residents are building their 
case for turning it into a city-owned emergency response and maintenance 
facility — while not ruling out building more affordable housing in 
their neighborhood.

City Commissioner Nick Fish will tour the center at 2730 S.W. Multnomah 
Blvd. with neighborhood leaders Monday afternoon. After that, he plans 
to meet with interested residents to discuss the issue at the nearby 
Multnomah Center.
