NE Sand & Gravel site still contaminated By Dan McDonald MetroWest Daily News (MA) August 27, 2008 FRAMINGHAM —More than 20 years after serving as a testing ground for military technology, the ground at the former New England Sand and Gravel site is still contaminated, according to a sample taken this summer. The news comes as a developer hopes to one day turn the Saxonville parcel, located off Danforth Street, into a one-of-a-kind, 170-plus acre, 525-unit subdivision. ...It is the Air Force, not Pulte, that is in charge of overseeing the cleanup of the site after less than two gallons of polychlorinated bihenyls leaked at the site while the military tried to develop a substance that could make a quick fix to bomb-damaged runways in 1986. ...
