Senate to hear about Army-EPA dispute today By Justin Palk Frederick News Post (MD) September 18, 2008The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is holding a hearing today on disputes between the Army and the Environmental Protection Agency over cleaning up toxic waste at sites in Maryland, Florida and New Jersey. Fort Meade is one of the sites in question, and Maryland environmental regulators will be testifying, according to a statement from the office of Sen. Benjamin Cardin, D-Md. The hearing comes at the request of Cardin and his fellow Maryland Democrat Sen. Barbara Mikulski. At first glance, it does not appear that this hearing will include discussion of disputes between the Army and the EPA and Maryland Department of the Environment over the cleanup of groundwater contamination at Fort Detrick's Area B. ...
