Barksdale-Bossier City plan land-use meetings

Meetings to help adjust continuing land use around Barksdale Air Force 
Base will be held twice next week, a release from Bossier City says.

The Joint Land Use Study, or JLUS, is a cooperative planning effort 
among the Air Force and surrounding communities to examine growth issues 
around the base. Incompatible development that is too close to aviation 
operations exposes people to noise and air safety risks and can 
compromise the ability of the military to fulfill its mission. The 
study’s purpose is to maintain the effectiveness of military operations, 
safeguard the welfare of nearby residents, and accommodate compatible 
local growth.

To do this, Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, Benton, Haughton, 
Shreveport, Bossier and Caddo Parishes and the U.S. Air Force have 
partnered in a cooperative planning process.
