Watertown seeks more tests on tainted site By Christina Pazzanese Boston Globe (MA) November 9, 2008The Watertown Conservation Commission plans to push the US Army Corps of Engineers to conduct broader testing of environmental pollutants found on a piece of former Department of Defense property. The commission met Wednesday to discuss the recent findings of a study done by consultants working for the US Army Corps of Engineers to measure PCB contamination on a nearly 12-acre parcel at Arsenal Street and Greenough Boulevard. The land is known as the General Services Administration property. The report, by Atlanta-based engineering and environmental consulting firm MACTEC Inc., was presented on Oct. 28, and detailed PCB contamination levels significantly higher than in previous studies. The study was done in preparation for a transfer of the land from the federal government to the state's Department of Conservation and Recreation. ...
