Decontamination plan outlined at public meeting Kirksville Daily Express (MO) Novemb 21, 2008KIRKSVILLE - Officials from the United States Army Corps of Engineers gathered comments at a public meeting Thursday night over mounting concerns of toxins at the former Kirksville Air Force Base. Traces of the chemical in question, trichloroethene (TCE), has been found in groundwater plumes in the area. Approximately 10 residents attended the meeting at Truman State University and voiced concerns of safety and the time it would take to implement a solution. While there is no immediate danger to the surrounding residences located around the base on Highway 63 near Greentop, Mo., long-term exposure could lead to cancer-related illnesses. ...
