Life after BNAS is discussed Kennebec Journal (ME) January 23, 2009 BRUNSWICK -- One day after Brunswick Naval Air Station closes -- targeted for March 2010 -- redevelopers hope to take over much of the 3,200-acre base and begin making money. It will be needed. People in a packed auditorium were told Thursday that $115 million in wages will vanish when the base closure is finalized in May 2011. Even more unsettling will be the loss of occupied homes in Brunswick and surrounding towns. Housing, lost jobs and the fate of the base were discussed at a first-of-its-kind meeting between the Navy and the community. ...
