Ohio EPA examines McKean Twp. site that once held munitions plant

McKEAN TOWNSHIP -- Ohio Environmental Protection Agency scientists are 
looking for contamination in soil samples from a McKean Township 
property, an Ohio EPA spokeswoman said.

The parcel at 2710 Dry Creek Road was the site of a military-grade 
munitions and pyrotechnics plant from 1949 to 1961, said Ted Hart, a 
spokesman for the Ohio Attorney General's Office.

Numerous potentially harmful compounds and elements, including heavy 
metals and elevated levels of lead and arsenic, were discovered in the 
soil of a Westerville site used by the same company, Kilgore 
Manufacturing, Hart said.
