Meade to probe extent of water contamination
Area residents worried response is not quick enough

Environmental officials at Fort George G. Meade intend to find out how far into adjacent communities contaminated water has spread from the west county Army post.

And post experts may have tracked the source of cancer-causing pollution to a site that was first used for a dry-cleaning operation during World War I.

The tests are in addition to the Army's plans to go door-to-door to Odenton homes that use wells and collect water samples for laboratory tests.
