Natick Labs plans to clean part of Lake Cochituate By Charlie Breitrose MetroWest Daily News (MA) May 20, 2009 NATICK —A proposal to clean up contamination in Lake Cochituate by removing sediment from Pegan Cove near Natick Labs was released by U.S. Army officials Monday. Officials came up with several alternatives, and selected one that would dredge contamination "hot spots," dry out the sediment from those areas and dispose of it at another location. According to the plan, the site made the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act priority list in 1994. In 2006, the Army and the Environmental Protection Agency signed an agreement to clean up the area. The contamination in the area, mostly in Pegan Cove just off shore from the U.S. Army Soldier System Center (SSC) - known as Natick Labs - came from several sources, according to the Army document. ...
