Cape military base looks to wind energy By George Brennan Cape Cod Times (MA) June 12, 2009CAMP EDWARDS - The Massachusetts National Guard submitted plans yesterday to place 17 wind turbines on the 22,000-acre Massachusetts Military Reservation in what could be a first step toward making it a "clean energy incubator," officials said.
The wind project could potentially supply all the electricity needed for the base, which hosts the National Guard, Air National Guard and Coast Guard operations, they said.
...Each of the 17 turbines, if they are all approved, would be 400 feet high and have the potential to generate a total of 25.5 megawatts of electricity, Guard spokeswoman Lynda Wadsworth said. The visual impact from off the base would be minimal, she said.
