News Release U.S. EPA January 20, 2010 EPA Seeks Public Input on Use of Modified Grenade Simulators at Camp Edwards(Boston, Mass.) - A 30-day public comment period begins January 20, 2010 for EPA’s proposed agreement to allow the Massachusetts National Guard (MANG) and other military agencies, to resume training using a reformulated pyrotechnic device, the M116A1 Hand Grenade, for a two year period to commence the first day of use on the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR). The comment period, which runs through February 20, 2010, provides an opportunity for public input on this limited, two year authorization. This authorization process is part of EPA’s regulatory role at the Massachusetts Military Reservation to protect the sole source Cape Cod Aquifer, pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act. ...
