Camp Sibert cleanup continues at Site 2A By Dana Beyerle Gadsden Times (AL) February 8, 2010MONTGOMERY - Cleanup crews are back at the old World War II Camp Sibert area cleaning up hazardous material in one site, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Monday. Army Corps of Engineers spokesman Pat Robbins said crews from private contractor Parsons Corp. were at Site 2A removing dirt contaminated by material used decades ago to clean or neutralize munitions. A pit is being cleaned out, Robbins said.He said the cleanup crew is wearing contamination-protection moon suits because of the possibility of vapors from disturbed dirt. ...
