Cleanup cost for Toda increases $600,000 spending bump still within budget Elizabeth Willis Battle Creek Enquirer (MI) March 26, 2010The cost of preparing land for a new battery components plant in Battle Creek has increased, but remains within the site's cleanup budget. Previously contaminated land at 4950 W. Dickman Road in the Fort Custer Industrial Park has been leveled and heavy metals removed to make way for Toda America Inc., a subsidiary of Toda Kogyo Corp. in Japan. The lithium-ion battery parts maker is expected to create at least 57 highly skilled jobs and attract similar hybrid-vehicle suppliers to the area. At least one other company has already shown interest since the Toda announcement, Battle Creek Unlimited's Marketing Director Doug Voshell said Thursday. ...
