Seaplane Lagoon Cleanup on Horizon by Dennis Evanosky Alameda Sun (CA) June 3, 2010The Navy is nearly finished removing and replacing radioactively contaminated storm drain lines that flow into Seaplane Lagoon, Councilman Frank Matarrese told the city council last Tuesday. Matarrese was highlighting the Alameda Point Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting held May 6. These storm drains flowed from buildings 5 and 400, across West Tower Avenue from the site of today's Bladium sports complex. Building 5 once housed what the Navy called an "aircraft rework facility," while a smaller Building 400 adjacent to Building 5 was a "missile rework facility." ...
