MIT says military can cut wind turbine interference with Oregon radar Scott Learn The Oregonian June 29, 2010A review by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Lincoln Laboratory has concluded that a radar station near Fossil can be upgraded to effectively reduce false targets from wind turbines, a concern that threatened to delay a huge wind energy project in north-central Oregon earlier this year. The Department of Defense requested MIT's 60-day review in April after it came under political fire for stalling the 338-turbine Shepherds Flat project in Gilliam and Morrow counties. The Pentagon dropped its opposition later that month, saying it thought it could address radar interference concerns by upgrading the 1958 radar station's technology. MIT's study confirmed that, according to an unclassified executive summary released to Congress. ...
