Group's cancer concern changes meeting's focus By Megan Eckstein Frederick News Post (MD) July 27, 2010As members of the Fort Detrick Restoration Advisory Board look on, Randy White, standing at right, waves papers he said lists the names of 400 people with cancer as he addresses Col. A group seeking answers regarding Fort Detrick's possible connection to cancer cases in Frederick "hijacked" a Restoration Advisory Board meeting, its chairwoman said, and forced officials to answer their health questions instead of the environmental issues on the agenda. Board chairwoman Linda Robinson repeatedly asked that the Kristen Renee Foundation and its supporters hold their questions for the end of the meeting, which was intended to brief the board on a final report about how Fort Detrick should proceed in monitoring contamination levels at its Area B, off Montevue Lane. Instead, the foundation and others threw out a steady stream of questions during the 21Ú2 hour meeting, eventually forcing Robinson to hand the meeting over to county health officer Barbara Brookmyer, who was better able to answer questions about cancer and how to investigate a cancer cluster. ...
