DTSC: Santa Susana Field Laboratory

On October 26, 2010, the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) 
and the federal Department of Energy (DOE) announced a Draft Final 
Agreement regarding the cleanup of DOE property at the Santa Susana 
Field Laboratory (SSFL) site in Simi Valley. The draft final agreement 
covers DOE's 290-acre portion of the facility and will meet the strict 
environmental standards set by state law (SB 990).

Public comment on the draft final agreement is being sought until 
November 22, 2010. Please note that DTSC will not respond to individual 
comments received on the draft agreement with DOE. Unless there are 
significant new comments that require further study, a final agreement 
will be executed on December 6, 2010. Comments should be sent to
