Feb. 10 meeting to outline search for unexploded ordnance at Blue 
Mountain site

The public is invited to the Missoula Public Library Feb. 10 to learn 
about the search for old munitions scheduled to begin this spring at the 
former Blue Mountain Training Area. The information meeting and open 
house, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will include a presentation on the 
project, overview of the work plan, and the schedule for field work. It 
will also provide an opportunity for the community to talk with 
representatives of the Montana Army National Guard's Unexploded Ordnance 
(UXO) Program and the U.S. Forest Service concerning the project.

The Army National Guard in Helena has contracted with Weston Solutions 
to survey nearly 300 acres within the 4,877 acre Blue Mountain 
Recreation Area for old munitions that may be remaining in the area from 
past military training. The work is part of the Military Munitions 
Response Program which looks for any evidence of unexploded ordnance 
(UXO) at former military training sites across the country. The work at 
Blue Mountain is expected to begin this spring or summer.
