Containment laboratory committee weighs public opinion By Megan Eckstein Frederick News Post (MD) January 26, 2011Members of the new containment laboratory community advisory committee spent about three hours on Tuesday evening perfecting the group's charter and planning a first community meeting, hoping to quickly legitimize the committee in the eyes of a community wary of local biodefense labs. From the committee scope to the background of its members and even who takes meeting minutes, debates kept coming back to how the public would view the committee. The committee - given the task of boosting communication between residents and lab operators - was created in late September by the city, county and Fort Detrick. The seven voting members, two alternates and two nonvoting liaisons from the city and county are still hammering out the details of how the committee will operate. ...
