Tarantolo offers insight into Ft. Monmouth closure

Army asks host towns to help secure vacant fort property

EATONTOWN - Mayor Gerald Tarantolo last week held the first of what he says will be a series of informational meetings on the status of Fort Monmouth’s closing at Borough Hall.

During the March 10 meeting, which drew only a handful of residents, Tarantolo outlined the base closure process and offered information on what he said are some of the most important near-term challenges facing the borough, including the status of Mallette Hall, the security of the fort property and how much say the borough planning and zoning boards will have in the development of the site .

Of chief concern to Tarantolo is whether the boroughwill acquireMalletteHall for use as Eatontown’s new municipal complex.
